David and Angela Markson joined Congregation Beth Shalom in July of 1996, so looking back over ten years, one can only say, "whew"! During this time they added another child, their fifth, to their own family, and added a whole new dimension to our congregation family.
David a computer guy, is not only amazing with zeros and ones, but increadibly handy with a hammer, plaster, and wrench. Day by day, he is turning their home, built in 1965, into a modern miracle.
He is involved in scouting with his boys. David is also always on hand to help out in our Religious Schol, either by hanging and overseeing the "Hamanata" at our Purim celebrations, or hanging lights in the sanctuary for our special occasions.
Angela taught Religious School for two years with Aubrey and Samuel under her tutelage until they were ready to take off on their own after only one year. Aubrey and Sam have done incredibly creativ things with their 5th-grade students for the past two years, and will be teaching again this fall.
Angela is the go-to person for B’nai Mitzvah invitations, and then helps coordinate the parent teams to assist our families in planning their simchas. Its an easy task since they have "three down and two to go", with Nicolas’s Bar Mitzvah coming up next December, and Maddie following in 2011. All this is accomplished as she attends UTA, participates in several schools, and runs her tight ship.
The Marksons have a real sense of family as is illustrated by the older siblings preparing the younger ones for Bar Mitzvah, as well as the fact that these people really like one another, and have a deep and abiding respect for every individual they meet.
This past summer, the entire family helped remoel a preschool room to accomodate teh new administration office. From David to Angela to Aubrey to Samuel to Zachary to Nicolast to Maddie, each Markson added their special touch to this project. They shlepped and painted and lifted and carried and all with smiling faces anxious to do something, anything to help our congregation.
We are greateful and thankful to have this family inour midst, and congratulate them on being name "Congregant Family of the Year" for Congregation Beth Shalom.

May 1, 2007 @ 9:24 amHey.. Well done guys! I only wish that I could be there for the Bar Mitxvah(s) I know Nickolas will be perfect (as usual) What is this about a fifth baby? Really? How wondeful. G-D certainly knws where to send babies. I do really miss you all. I’m here in St Augustine now and live on a lake/creek, it’s small but nice. I’m going to one of the 2 synagogs in town. The Reform Temple Bet Yom. There are about 102 families her but VERY few kids.(maybe 15… tops) Most of the Congregation is over 55 and although there are exceptions few have any kiddos around. We meet 1st and 3rd Shabbot. There are other events that I have gotten to go to. We are hoping to build s synagog (closer to my house) but arehaving a problem with permits. St Augustine as a city wants to remain the same yet have the benefit of light industry. Would rather not have a whole lot more people tho. A little crazy, I think. I am so thrilled to hear your news. Angela I knw how busy you must be. Keep well, zaigesunt with much ove from
