Since my January article did not make it into HaShomer, let me recap some of the December highlights. A big thank you to all of the ladies who made and sold latkes for the Chanukah workshop, and to those who helped Mary in the Gift Shop. While I am writing this, at the beginning of December, I am sure that all who participated in the gift-wrapping at Northeast Mall had a good time. I hope it was a worthwhile project. Also, I would like to extend a thank you to everyone who contributed desserts to the Oneg for Newcomers and Installation of Officers service.
While we have put the remodeling of the women’s restroom on hold, we have been busy with other projects. We have had the chairs on the bimah Scotch-Guarded; a print which had been damaged repaired and reframed; made a donation to the Sababa Concert, which was held on December 9; and hired Vanessa to do a thorough cleaning of the kitchen in the main building.
A big thank you to Andrea Snow, who was in charge of gift-wrapping at Northeast Mall. While it was a challenge at times (the gentleman who had 10 gifts for his fiancee, or the one who asked me to try on his wife’s gift – luckily it wasn’t from Victoria’s Secret), I think we all had a great time working together. Thank you to all the ladies who volunteered to help wrap.
I hope I am not forgetting anyone: Rochelle Bekerman (and her mom, Leah), Mary Soltz, Shari Virtheim, Marsha Baker, Valerie Carlone, Janice Kasten, Danielle Snailer, Christine Posnock, Cindy Fratina, Carol Pock, Bea Stein, Holly Adinoff, Sharon Greene, Jenny Daley, Wanda Brunell, Dolores Schneider, Stephanie Posner, Karen West, Fran Kreindler, and of course, our illustrious leader in this, Andrea Snow. Also, a special thank you to the adopted Sisterhood members (Rabbi and Stuart Snow) who helped us schlep things. ( If I missed anyone, I am heartily sorry, and your help was greatly appreciated.)
Several women from Sisterhood organized a trip to the Holocaust Museum in Dallas on January 10. Miriam Ward and Dolores Schneider were in charge of connecting people with rides. I am sure the trip was educational and that everyone had a meaningful experience.
Our next board meeting is Tuesday, February 20, at 6:45 p.m. We meet for dinner beforehand, and anyone may join us. We will be having dinner at 5:30 p.m. at Birraporetti’s (in the old Black-Eyed Pea shopping center on North Collins). If you are interested in joining us, please let me know so that we will know to expect you.
We are still interested in having a book review for Sisterhood members. If you have recently read a book which had a Jewish theme, or characters, which you would recommend, please email me the title. We want to make Sisterhood your Sisterhood.
Remember to join Sisterhood. Without you we are one member short.
