Artizen Fine Arts Gallery in the Dallas Design District
is proud to present the opening art exhibition for a new
Dallas non-profit organization: Art for Peace & Justice (Art4PJ).   The group show, which will open Saturday, Sept. 8 from 6 - 9 pm and continues through Oct. 7, features art by local Dallas artists chosen by independent curator Sarah Jane Semrad. 

The artists include Ben Hancock, Kevin Obregon, Jim Frederick, Carmen Menza, Erica Fellicella, Jayme Nourallah, Patrick Rhodes, Bob Munro, Richard Ross, Marty Ruiz, Hal Samples and Diane Sikes.  Artizen Fine Arts Gallery is located at 1215 Dragon St. and is open Monday - Friday 10am to 6pm and weekends by appointment, or for special events. A program of Hope for Peace & Justice, Art4PJ will have
a party with live music, food and drink to celebrate its launch on Saturday, Sept. 15  from 6 to 8pm as part of the Dallas Art Dealers Association (DADA) Fall Art Walk. The Art Walk is from 2 to 8pm.  In addition to the art show, a new music video by local singer and actor Denise Lee will premiere at the party. Jazzful Noise, a big band from Cathedral of Hope, will perform as well.

The exhibition will feature the unveiling of the first work of art created specifically for Art for Peace & Justice. Local artist Marty Ruiz was commissioned to create a piece that will express the multi-faceted nature of the new program, which utilizes art in its various forms to help create a culture of peace and justice where beauty is valued and preserved for future generations. Marty’s artwork, featuring dramatic use of color, is in great demand across the U.S.

“We are thrilled to have a wonderful artist such as Marty Ruiz create the very first work of art for Art for Peace & Justice.  His work is expressive and full of variety and color.  It is a perfect representation of the concepts we espouse through our organization,” said Tim Seelig, Director of Art for Peace & Justice. Signed and numbered Repliques&#153 will be on sale during the show, as will the original work. Proceeds will benefit Art for Peace & Justice.

Based in Dallas, Art for Peace & Justice is a program of the non-profit Hope for Peace & Justice, an endeavor to enlist artists across the country to become ambassadors and educators, prophets and priests, for social transformation. Using music, drama, literature, dance and the visual arts, Art4PJ will challenge people to work together to create beauty rather than destruction, unity rather than division and cooperation rather than conflict.
