Sisterhood

It was great to see so many friends at services for the
High Holy Days, and to make so many new ones. A huge
thank you to all of the women who baked or supplied goodies
for the Rosh HaShana oneg and Yom Kippur break-the
fast. Also, special thanks go to Wanda Brunell and Sheryl
Robertson, who did an outstanding job of organizing everything
for the second year in a row. Everything looked and
tasted wonderful.
I would also like to thank the ladies who came and
stayed on Tuesday night to help get ready for the oneg, and
to those who came early to help with the Yom Kippur set up.
And a special thank you to Rochelle Bekerman, who provided
the floral centerpiece.
We had a great membership kick-off in August. Did
you join? It is never too late. We need you, because without
you, we are one lady short. For information you can contact
Miriam Ward, lordflyte@verizon.net, Julie Eisenfeld,
julieeisenfeld@sbcglobal.net, or me.
Our gift shop had its grand re-opening on September 9.
There are lots of new things and unique, one-of-a-kind items.
Valerie Carlone and Melanie Garver have really outdone
themselves with the new look. Visit every Sunday to make
sure you don’t miss out on any of the attractions.
We had a wonderful turnout for our first cooking class
in September. The cost is $36 for non-members, and is free
to Sisterhood members. Our next scheduled programs will
be a cooking show on how to make challah by Laura Fleischer
on October 7, at 10:30 a.m. and a Tai Chi class (baby sitting
available) on October 18, at 7:00 p.m. On November 6, at
1:00 p.m., we will visit the Women’s Museum in Dallas.
Contact a Sisterhood board member if you are interested in
attending.
Our next scheduled meeting is October 16, 6:45 p.m.
We will meet at Birraporetti’s for dinner at 5:30 p.m. It is
located on Road to Six Flags, just west of Collins. Join us
for dinner and/or the meeting. Let us know if you plan to
attend dinner so we can save you a seat.
Speaking of which, our recording secretary had to resign,
so we are looking for someone who would be willing
to serve in that capacity from now through June. We meet
the third Tuesday of the month at 6:45 p.m. Our pre-meeting
dinner is not mandatory, we just like to get together to
schmooze.
Our big fund-raising project will be coming up in December.
While I know October seems like way too early to
worry about Christmas gift-wrapping (unless you’ve been
shopping lately), we are looking for volunteers to help on
Wednesday, December 19, and Thursday, December 20, in
the evening; Friday, December 21, during the day until 5:00
p.m.; and Monday, December 24, from open to close. Everyone
who participated last year had a great time. consider
volunteering. To get your name on the list and reserve your
favorite time slot, contact Sharon Greene at
sharongreene@sbcglobal.net.
Remember, it is not too late to join Sisterhood. Without
you, we are one woman short.
