Education is a lifelong pursuit, especially as it relates to increasing our knowledge of Judaism and our connection to its precepts. Toward that end we are pleased to present the following opportunities:
Family Study
In order to further cement that bond between Torah values with parent and child, I have agreed to teach an inter-generational Adult Torah class. This class will center on our teachings from Pirkei Avot, (Ethics of the Fathers). This would be a class designed for parents, with encouragement to bring your kids from 4th grade to adult. By mastering the teaching of Pirkei Avot, parent and child will become partners as G-Ds secret agents to protect the Torah – and its sacred teachings. This will be your chance to learn and share Torah knowledge with your children in the same class.
Pirkei Avot is a slim volume of the Mishnah and filled with rules of wise conducr and proper behavior, with lessons to guide us in veryday life. All ofthe teachings in Pirkei Avot have their roots in the Torah itself. We will apply these lessons during this 8 week course. Although we will use many reference books for this class, the key book will be the actual Pirkei Avot from the Mishnah, which I will provide to each person that takes theclass.

Jewish Thought
At first glance, defining Mitzvot or Commandments to ReformJews as a set ofinstructions we are commanded to do may seem paradoxical. In this class we will explore this subject over 13 weeks by reading essays by a group of Reform rabbis on just this subject. By relating their personal journeys and defining moments of the North American Reform experience, the authors capture the Reform Movement’s positions on this complex subject. The class format will consisr of reading the essays, discussing them in class, and it is to be hoped, forming our own opinions on the role of Mitzvot in our lives.

Read Hebrew
Learn to read Hebrew, or even improve your Hebrew reading. Join us as we start at Alef, end at Tav and master all the letters in between. The goal here is to become comfortable with decoding the language, participating in worship, and laying a foundation for learning Hebrew as a language. It’s really easy– even your children do it! Stress will be placed upon reading the words and basic comprehension and language structure. This class will continue through the end of the religious school year.
