Sukkot

Laissez let bon temps roulle!

What a fabulous time we all had at the gumbo and jambalaya dinner! well, at least 62 of us. Richard Franklin and Barry Goldfarb spent long hours cooking delicious gumbo and red beans and rice, real new orleans style aided by Jeanne Franklin and her parents, Ned and Karen Boudreaux from N’awlins. Ned and Karen came here after hurricane Katrina leveled their house, and lucky for us they decided to settle right here in Arlington.
The sukkah, build by David Markson and Barry Goldfarb and other awesome teens (Check out the rabbi’s fantastic video on you tube (HY - put in the link please) was beautifully decorated by our Sunday school kids, and we fit a little more than half of the families in it to fulfill the mitzvah of eating a meal in the sukkah. The rest of our guests had to eat indoors…. the weather was fantastic, so next year be sure to get here early and save your spot in the sukkah.
Thanks to our wonderful cooks and helpers (Thressa, Andrew, and Matt Lobel and Ethan Goldfarb) there was plenty of food and drink and places to sit. Everyone had a great time and asked that we do this more often. Don’t worry, we will! It was great to see such great community spirit alive and well at Beth Shalom, people really enjoyed seeing each other, hanging out and catching up.
Watch Hashomer and your emails for the next big holiday event!
