Sam Weiger’s Bar Mitzvah at the Southern Wall in Jerusalem

On December 29, 2008, Sam Weiger, son of Ben and Fran Weiger, had the honor of becoming a Jewish man (Bar Mitzvah) at the Southern Wall in Jerusalem. The weather was rainy and cold; typical for Central Israel during the winter. Rabbi Boyden officiated the ceremony. Sam’s second and third cousins, and great aunt from his father’s side of the family, were present with umbrellas in hand. Sam recited the blessings before and after the Torah, and 12 verses from Parsha Vayigash. Sam had another opportunity to visit the family synagogue built at the turn of the century in the Buchari district (Jews born in Uzbekistan) of Jerusalem. Sam and family had the honor of viewing an Ark covering in memory of Ben’s mother’s parents. Congratulations Sam on this momentous and memorable occasion in your life!! Here are some pictures from Sam’s Bar Mitzvah in Israel.
