Sylvia Gray Chaverim

Sylvia Gray Chaverim is an affiliate organization of Beth Shalom. Chaverim means friends. Our mission is to provide meaningful programs and social events for senior members of our congregation. The group was started in 2001 as 50’s Forward, and steered by two beloved congregants, Sylvia Gray and Miriam Ward. When Sylvia passed away in 2005, the name was changed in her memory.

Sylvia Gray Chaverim receives funding in the form of an annual grant from Federation, which allows us to offer educational and entertaining experiences to members at no charge or a significantly reduced cost. Programs are publicized and listed on the Beth Shalom calendar. If space permits, activities may be opened to all members of our congregation. Events in the past two years include a New York bagel breakfast, trips to the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, Persian and French dinner parties, plays at Theater Arlington, a virtual CBS Talent Hour and a virtual Evening in Hawaii game night.
